Our 4 Angkor Watt Students

On top of the earlier bike donation, we have decided to assist in the Angkor Watt region, Cambodiia :

  • 1 university student ;
  • 3 elementary and junior high school boys and girls ;

with their financial needs for their education.

Their stories are summarized herebelow.

Student1,

girl from a small village near Siem Reap town, lives with her mother, who is a widow, and her two younger siblings. Our student a dedicated student in grade 4 at Khnar Primary Schoo, every day rides her bike to school, facing the challenges of her long journey. At home, she takes on the important role of helping care for her younger brother and sister. As the oldest, she is responsible for getting them ready and taking them to school. Her mother, working as a cleaner at a house near the local market in Siem Reap, must cover food and basic needs for her three children from her small income. It is a constant struggle, especially since she is raising the children alone. This scholarship brings a sense of hope to the family. It eased some of the financial burden and gave our student the motivation to work harder in her studies, knowing that her efforts could lead to better opportunities for her and her family.

With this support, our sudent’s future becomes brighter, and her family gained hope for a better tomorrow.

Student2s’ father,

who was the main provider for the family, passed away in 2000. Since then, his mother, now a widow, has taken on the heavy responsibility of raising four children on her own. Our students’ mother never had the chance to go to school. She works hard as a laborer, earning just enough to support her family. Unfortunately, there are times when she can only afford to buy rice and fish sauce, with no extra money for other food. Because of their financial struggles, Student2s’ mother is unable to send her children to school regularly like other families. This is a constant source of worry for her, and she often sacrifices her own needs to ensure her children have what they need to survive. Despite these challenges, she remains hopeful that one day her hard work will allow her children to have better opportunities and break the cycle of poverty. Every evening, as she tucks them into bed, she encourages them to believe that education is the key to a better future.

Student3

is a 21-year-old young woman from a small village near Siem Reap town. She comes from a family of six, where her parents are farmers who own only a small plot of land to grow rice. Despite their efforts, the harvest barely sustains the family’s basic needs. To help make ends meet, Our sutdent’s mother wakes up before dawn every day to prepare traditional Cambodian cakes, which she sells at a local market. Her daily journey, rain or shine, is a testament to her sacrifice and dedication to supporting the family. The older sister, now 24, of our Suudent3 had to abandon her dreams of further education after high school and works at a café in town, earning just enough to support herself. Her younger brother, aged 19, works as a construction laborer, taking on physically demanding work to contribute to the household. As the second child, Our student3 has faced immense challenges. Despite growing up in an environment of financial instability and emotional strain, she has shown remarkable perseverance and determination to create a better future for herself and her family. She dreams of pursuing higher education at one of the best universities in Siem Reap, believing that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. However, knowing the burden her family already carries, our student3 works at a hotel to support herself. Her long hours and dedication to her job reflect her unwavering commitment to self-reliance and growth. With or support, she can focus fully on her studies, unlocking her potential to not only transform her own life but also uplift her family and community. This opportunity would provide Student3 with the stepping stone she needs to achieve her dreams and inspire others facing similar challenge.

Student4,

a 14-year-old girl from a small village located about 35 kilometers from Siem Reap town, is an orphan and comes from one of the poorest families in the area. She lives with her grandmother, a widow, in Prey village, Khnar Sanday commune, Banteay Srei district, Siem Reap province. As a student in grade 8 at Banteay Srei High School, every day, she rides her bike to school, facing the challenges of the long journey. Her grandmother is unemployed and has no income to support our student or provide for the family. The only support they receive is from the Shinta Mani Foundation, which helps with monthly food deliveries. Our sudent4 has big dreams for her future. She wants to pursue a higher level of education, believing that with determination and support, she can overcome the challenges in her life. She is committed to working hard, knowing that her education could change her life and open doors for a better future. She hopes that one day, she can inspire others in her community to pursue education, no matter their struggles.

“I am very happy that my living conditions will improve, and my education will get better,” She said. “I promise to work hard and make the most of this opportunity.” With renewed hope, she is eager to embrace her studies and make a positive impact in her community. Our Student4 understands that education is not just a personal achievement but a way to uplift those around her.
